Voltaire In White House Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Voltaire In White House

Voltaire in white house

In the past studied Catherine
-that Russian German Tsar
-whom I thought much about
-observed her statues
-took photos
-counting all her lovers
-multitude
-thanks to her power in
-governance, sex appeals
-and the White Elephant
-gifted by Nader Shah
-I noticed she was a friend of
-The Voltaire, the writer
-the heartfelt correspondents

Now I read the Candide of Voltaire
-a French satire
-was published by he, himself,
-in midst of century
-The Eighteenth
-I enjoy Enlightenment.

The foreword claims that nothing changed
-my copy was published years later
-in the nineteen thirty

By now things have changed though
-much too much
-truly lot and lot

Yet have not…
-we, the man-animal
-on two feet still walk
-damned and dumb
-yes we are
-look at Sir.
-Donald Trump…

Read the book and compare
-with White House
-any doubt?
