Why the immense popularity
of the remarkable Volkswagen Beetle
I ask myself in the quiet moment
of a wandering little daydream.
The answer, of course, is obvious,
"Herbie".
Or, then again, perhaps
it is after all because
they are so darn cute and cuddly.
Rather like a grizzly bear cub;
but, unlike the cub
they never grow large, loud
and fearsome.
In this world
to remain forever cute and cuddly
is not only an oddity,
it is simply sublime.
The peaceful dream of a
vociferous-world.
