Wagner Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin - Too Brave To Die Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Wagner Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin - Too Brave To Die

Those who live by the sword,
die by the sword;
those who fight with a gun,
die with a bullet;
those who support hostility
face unfathomable enmity;
only had he to foresee it,
he would have been wisest indeed!

Fate and death are two forces
that silence the powerful and the weak
so unexpectedly, so mercilessly
as death has its duty to do
whether it is on the playground
or the battlefield,
it meets its prey
without any pity;

but as the plane crashed,
eyes rose in disbelief
and everyone kept asking:
could he have perished?
could he have really died?
or, is he still out there, somewhere?

And everyone knew that
as one plays with the life of others,
others play with the life of the patron;
so everyone was not astonished or unassuming;
everyone might have thought:
how could he himself be so negligent?
how could he himself be so trustworthy with others?

And when he was a man so bold and brave,
how could he not anticipate his own catastrophe?
for just as end comes to those who are strong,
it also comes to those who are ignorant and tough,
it comes to those who are even rich as kings
for death is a bird that cuts the wings of all
whether great or small, famous or unknown;

for death has no eyes to see
for death is a mystery that is written
without a language or a verse
but it is certain to occur in everyone's life;
and until that last day of life,
no man can describe or predict the phenomenon
of what his final end will be.
