Wake up my Goa
today belongs to you,
let the reign and roaring be yours
and not of lions who clench our freedom
and drag our hope away;
Wake up my Goa
today belongs to you,
four hundred years of colonization
was not an easy game for winning
cause as they left they took away our souls.
Wake up my Goa
today belongs to you,
it is time we have our own inspirations
so that our brothers and sisters
flourish in their own dignity and essence.
Wake up my Goa
today belongs to you,
we were liberated to live freely and in union,
by our own rules and laws,
and to fly our own flags of victory.
Wake up my Goa
today belongs to you,
those that make us proud
are our own ideals and goals
and not those moments
when someone else takes control.
Wake up my Goa
today belongs to you,
those that fought for freedom
wanted us to be free forever
and not live by those who offer injustice
amidst us, upon us, within us, ever.
Wake up my Goa
today belongs to you,
yours are hearts full of love and tolerance
though resistant to exploitation and deceit.
Wake up my Goa
today belongs to you,
God in all its forms and idols
in all the temples, and churches, and mosques;
by blessings cast upon mankind
Goans in togetherness of faith and kindness unite.
