high in the mountains high above the plains
in silent night rarefied mountain air heights
nature seeks sifts secrets to poet time explains
sitting in the wilderness sitting in stillness dark;
sitting around fire flame burning campfire at night
while wood flames embers agitated frequent spark
I listen to the wilderness; I have no tall campfire tales; to spin
I sit silence motionless; reflect; long after other campers left;
night sky is ablaze in crisp sharp cold;
winter clear sky mountain air;
night sky is ablaze in gallery galaxy;
pinwheel sphere mountain sky stars;
I sit in flame reflected silence long after other campers left;
I sit in silence thinking wait for wilderness wisdom to creep in;
