Waiting Poem by nicola burkett

Waiting

Time passes so slowly
When you wait for the things you want

Like an anxious child waiting for santa to come
so they can open their presents
From their loving dad and mum
Or an impatient child who can't wait to grow
To them, it seems the time is so slow

But it passes even slower
For the things you wish you didn't have to have

Like that phone call Dead at night
the one you've been waiting for
But when it comes it gives you a fright
The ten minute trip it takes to get to reception
And spell out their name
Seems like every move you make
is played in freeze frame
Waiting turns to an agonizing fear
As the man in white approaches
you wipe away your saddened tear
The waiting that seemed so long
Is now over when he tells you
She's gone

I take it this is about your grandmother, a very sad and well written piece. Good luck Ian
