Waiting For Love Poem by Concetta Salter

Waiting For Love

Shattered and lonely within my own heart.
I never once thought that you’d tear me apart.
And here I am fighting with all that I have,
To think of the good, and erase all the bad.
The past is not led though, it can’t be erased.
I live with my choices and all my mistakes.
How could I fall for the lies that you spoke?
I was the pun to your cruel heartless joke.
Something you wanted until it was yours.
I was that object, yeah I was that girl.
Needless to say, I did not have a clue.
All of your lies I believed were the truth.
Maybe I’m hopeless, and can’t find a guy.
A guy who is truthful, and never tells lies.
God only knows if this guy does exists.
The sky’s filled with stars that have heard of this wish.
Though it’s my faith, that is battered and bruises.
I know somewhere out there, there’s love that is true.
Thought I can’t see him, I know there’s a guy,
Wishing on stars like I’m wishing tonight.
And yeah just like me, it’s his faith that is bruised.
But I know the saying, that love heals all wounds.
Though I don’t know when or where our paths cross
I know that I’ll wait. Cause true loves worth the cost.
