Waiting Still On A New Dawn Poem by Gert Strydom

Waiting Still On A New Dawn

I cannot stop my love for you
that flows out endlessly
like waves out of my control
and even when stormy winds scream

my heart stays true
like breakers swishing continuously
I stay in love with you, who keep my life sunny
only interested in that which lies between us

and if I hit myself shattering,
life breaks me foaming over rough rocks
you are like the sun always there and I cannot relinquish you
and I am still waiting on a new dawn:

a place where sun and sea meets,
where you greet me as your sweetheart.
