Waking Up Poem by Leopold Gunther

Waking Up

No more tea and sympathy
No more tears and apathy
No more sleeping through the day
No more choosing to stay
I awake and the sun shines
I awake and realize I am released from all my binds
I awake and I feel life again
I have awoken and I will now let life begin
The storm has passed, the clouds have cleared
The windows outside reveal the sun, to which I endear
No more nightmares or bad dreams
No more devils and their evil schemes
Up the road there is light, there is hope
Near ahead there is joy to which I can cope
No more scars, no more wounds
No more sad musicians with their sorrowful tunes
My heart has changed and is fresh like dew
So Glory to God in Jesus Christ
I am made anew
