I remember walking to school each day,
With Papi next to me.
Everything that I had to say,
I did not let it be.
We talked about all kinds o things,
Underneath those Texas skies.
About the joy that schooling brings,
And I could hear his sighs.
He wanted me to get the chance,
That he never had.
On that he took the firmest stance,
God, how I loved my dad.
