Walls Poem by C.Ann Penning

Walls

Trepidation
Strangles the soul
Forbidding it to live

Happiness is but a dream,
a fairy tale of a life once led

Shall I plan less, live more
dwell less, create more?

Building the walls
one block at a time,
leave room for a door
or seal it shut forever?

If I peeled away the layers
would I find me in the core
