War 2 - Poem by Frankie Stones
There can only be one winner,
But yet both sides loose.
An angry army of twisted hopes and beliefs.
A dream turned into a nightmare.
A holiday that was only meant to last a few months.
Friendships smashed and loved ones lost.
Nothing to gain but a lot to lose.
Lives on the line for their countries.
Brave boys made to be men.
Leaving their lives to fight for nothing.
To see friends and family died in a great deal of pain.
A recurring nightmare.
That’s never supposed to end.
A shot of one gun,
One but that’s all it took,
It’s all over in seconds.
A young life wasted,
On a meaningless fight.
A country proud,
A mother destroyed,
And a family that’s broken.
A life that’s ended.
Happiness smothered in despair.
Nowhere to run,
Nowhere to hide,
Just a tiny little hole to protect you.
Robert Frost
