War Poem by future 3003

War

An eerie silence fills the air,
And all around I sense despair.
The smell of death, the stench of fear,
The loss of things that one holds dear.

The guns are firing like thunderclaps,
Soldiers get shot, limbs get snapped.
Men scream in pain, eyes filled with hurt,
The ground soaked red with soldier’s blood.

Why must we have this suffering?
Why war with the pain it brings?
Is this war due to want or need
Or to satisfy human greed?
