War Torn Iraq Poem by Francis Duggan

War Torn Iraq

'Tis said that a million people in Iraq have died
Their gift of life to them by war was denied
A war that turned out to be based on a lie
A million are dead and many more to die
War introduced suicide bombers to Iraq
And life from once taken cannot be given back
Iraq is the Country of tears and bloodshed
Where bereaved families weep at the graves of their dead
Too late now for pointing the finger of blame
What has happened in Iraq is humanity's shame
The killings and revenge killings will go on for years
The war men have made Iraq the land of tears
I pity the poor people of war torn Iraq
They live their lives in fear of a bombing attack.
