Warrnambool In Early Spring Poem by Francis Duggan

Warrnambool In Early Spring

The children on the see saws laugh as they swing up and down
In the park by the ocean at Warrnambool Town
On saturday morning in the Spring sunlight
And everywhere looking so breezy and bright
The flute of the magpie melodious and clear
And the song of the blackbird so pleasant to hear
And the breeze from the sea so refreshing and cool
The Spring days are happy days in Warrnambool
The swamphens and moorhens the black duck and drake
They nest in the shrubby islands of the lake
Their young will be fully fledged as Summer draws near
The Spring is a beautiful time of the year
The laughter of children where nesting birds sing
In beautiful Warrnambool in early Spring.
