Warrnambool In July Poem by Francis Duggan

Warrnambool In July

In Warrnambool a wild and wet wintery day
The sun behind gray clouds is hidden away
But it is not unusual to have some wet days in July
Though the southern Winter weather most cool to dry
The tiny frogs singing in every pond, dam and drain
The urge to breed is in them in the winter rain
And the warbling flute like songs always pleasant to hear
Of the magpies who sing every day of the year
In Warrnambool in July natural beauty to be seen
And the surrounding countryside is looking quite green
But mostly the weather in south western Victoria in all Seasons fine
And even in Winter some days of sunshine
The rain drizzling down from the overcast sky
In Warrnambool on a wet and windy day in July.
