Waste Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Waste

Eliminating waste fascinates so many.
Feeling to have earned the ability,
To display their wasteful ways.
On daily basis.
Unappreciating a taking for granted,
A greatness to say this.
But lacking in existence,
Where is the feeling of it portrayed?
On trashed city streets to see more tossed?
Behind the gloss of supermarkets,
Where in garbage dumpsters...
Fresh fruits and vegetables end up lost.
At the expense of those hungry,
And homeless.
Paying the cost at the loss of dignities.
Because of a law these food industries,
Obey to determine...
What to them is waste.
And how long it takes to rid of it.
Because of a rule,
To keep up appearances.
Regardless who begs wishing just food.

Fascinated.
Are those who state and flaunt 'greatness'.
Fast food junkies.
Craving everyday to nibble.
To then quibble how long it takes.
With it soon to trash streets,
Of what was not eaten...
In paper bags left,
For paid street cleaners...
To pick up their garbage.
Garbage 'great' lazy people leave,
Not inside but outside...
Trash bins to lay.
Displaying the waste of minds not used.
In thoughtless acts.
Unconscious what it is,
How waste in their lives...
Has become more prioritized.
Than a greatness to delude its meaning!
