Wasted Lives Poem by Randal Evans

Wasted Lives

Rating: 4.8

Leaving for school with satchels and pens
A future concerned with football and friends
No thoughts of a tyranny beyond their dreams
Of despots who've earmarked these lives in their teens

Who's tentacles stretch to country's world wide
Through fanatical mentors with jihad in mind
These impressionable sons with a hunger for truth
Saturated by fallacy, these gullible youths

Prepared to align with faceless live thieves
To maim, to kill, to gloat at their deeds
Now leaving for school with rucksacks and guns
No concerns are left for football and friends

Thanks for sharing this thought provoking poem. Hatred begets hatred, love begets love. 'Football and friends' - natural companions of youths as it should be- a nice thought.
