Watching Other People Shine Poem by Jackie Chou

Watching Other People Shine

It crumples the heart
tosses it into the bin
like a failed song

The sidelines are occupied
by the dead-hearted
whose tears warm
the cold benches

Their hands numbly applaud
stars whose light
they will never share
