Watching You Poem by Julie Smith

Watching You

There's too much light in your window baby
I see the shadows of you and her
Too close together for another sin
But my love is between her and your skin

Baby by now you might have it figured
That I see and know more than you prefer
And the truth is still far from the life you live
If I only knew what you see in her

I's 4 am and my lipstick in vain
Your window's empty and in my mind the walls are made of glass
Tears mixing with the rain
Falling to the ground to my knees on the grass

Pounding hearts in a parallel world
I wish they were ours again
You were not made for another girl
I will be watching you until you see me

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was inspired by a song by Natalia Kills called 'Watching You'. It's about a crazy, obsessive kind of love that evolved out of disappointment and affairs. It's the second to last poem of my part III.
