Water Hyacinth Poem by Debendra Majhi

Water Hyacinth

water hyacinth floats
in the tropical native ponds,
with glossy ovate leaves
buoyant, bulbous stalks.

hanging roots of purple black
breath beneath the water,
spikes emerging straight up
holding bunch of flowers.

lavender to pink colours
each has six petals,
infamously invasive
aquatic wicked corporal.
