Water Universe Poem by Cecilia Skopec

Water Universe

Rating: 5.0

My body slices through the surface
of this entirely different world.
A world that defies gravity and holds air.
My arms sweep with smooth momentum,
taking me dowth this path.
My feet begin to flutter,
leaving a small trail behind me.
It's been too long.
Too long since the bubbles have stroked my face.
Too long since I have had this feeling of speed.
It's been way too long.
Suddenly I stop and rotate with a simple twist.
Changing my direction, so I can experience
this little adventure again.
I start to notice other figures all around me.
I continue on carelessly for I know they don't
pose a threat, at least not today.
We all move together with a silent harmony.
Repeating my actions many more times,
I finally look up and take air,
from the other side of this wall.
I then look back down and enjoy the gentle touch.
After flowing on this one great road,
I crawl back home into the air.
Gravity greedily reaches
and pulls me to my seat.
Tired from this long journey
but feeling victorious.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Maybe it's just because I live in Florida, but swimming doesn't give me this feeling anymore. It used to though, so I can totally understand where you're coming from. Great imagery! And another great title! I loved it!
