Watkins Glen State Park Poem by Rhonda Baker

Watkins Glen State Park

Watkins Glen State park
We thought we’d go there on a lark
In search of some hiking trails
Some outdoor time, over hills over dales
What we found? Filled our senses to the end
As we start at the bottom gorge of Watkins Glen
A mile and a half, with nineteen waterfalls
Over 800 steps, between steep walls
The water…SO POWERFUL, it washed the world away
Yet so p e a c e f u l…the soul was free to play
The stones were all craved by water and time
Perfectly shaped pools, and ledges to climb
Walking under Rainbow falls, and reaching out your hand
Being one with God…and this great land
