We Had Sheep Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

We Had Sheep

We had sheep

Vividly I recall
-our sheep's wool
-white, in times brownish

Naturally their tails were
-smaller-than-the-rams'

We knew nature's laws
-though were kids, very young

Daily saw birds mating
-and rooster when jumping on the hen
-tails shifting positions when meeting

Therefore, we admired the nature
-on the size of the tails, male, female
- "Will be hard to lift a heavy tail…
-to permit a leeway…"

In times, dad or other grown-ups
-or shepherds
-threw sheep into pond to wash up

With hardship
-sheep or lamb or the ram
-to get out, struggled and swam

Finally stood there with abrupt
-sharp movement
-shed water, as is done inside the dryer

I want to do the same
-need to shake the knowledge
-awareness…to be sheikh
-son of sheikh
-like prince or poppy…the child of…

Think comfort can be found in darkness with a sack on head, neck…
