The family came together, crowding around her bed
With sorrow-filled expressions, for we knew what lay ahead.
The news came so suddenly, yet we all seemed to know.
Still, we are never ready to let our loved ones go.
But for now, we must turn loose and set her free.
Say our last goodbyes hard as it may be.
As she slips away, to her eternal home—
There's one thing for sure—one thing we know—
We'll never let go. O no, no. We'll never let go.
We have her memory, to enrich our lives.
We have old photographs of days gone by.
We have little treasures of our time here together.
We have God's promise, "That parting is not forever."
Let her fly away! Let her be free!
Send her to Heaven, where she wanted to be.
Don't try to hold on; don't keep her here.
Trust in your heart, let faith replace fear.
As she slips away—to her eternal home,
There's one thing for sure—one thing we know—
We'll never let go. O no, no. We'll never let go.
