We Prayed Poem by Kenneth Hearne

We Prayed

Rating: 5.0

We Prayed

We prayed for our people.
Our Father
We prayed during our captivity.
Who art in Heaven
We prayed during our enslavement.
Hollowed by thy Name
We prayed during our cry for Freedom.
Thy Kingdom come
We prayed during our discrimination.
Thy will be done
We prayed during the violence.
On Earth as it is in Heaven
We prayed for our Fathers and Mothers.
Give us this day of daily Bread
We prayed for our lost children.
Forgive us our trespassers
We prayed for justice, for all.
As we forgive those who trespass against us
We prayed during the darkness.
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
We prayed when all Hope was lost.
For thine is the Kingdom, the power
We prayed as One Nation of all races.
And the Glory forever and ever
We prayed......but when do we fight?
Amen
