We'Re Not Too Young To Know Poem by Airda Jones

We'Re Not Too Young To Know

Lately I've been thinking about...
Well, you must already know
'Cause everytime you looked at me
I know it had to show

It's been leaving me caught up
In all my dreams and fantasies
But while I wonder, there are those
Who are making it their reality

And I can't help but envy
The ones who weren't there before us
Are now living my perfect dream
And I am so jealous

But its not the ring or
The ceremony I'm looking for
It's not the parties or the announcements
It is so much more

The promise to love and cherish
Making a home with you
Growing in years and experience
Leaving behind a legacy or two

Standing by each other
Soul in soul, hand in hand
Finally proving to all that
We weren't too young to understand

Finally giving you that moment
I've been holding back for so long
Feeling beyond our wildest dreams
A love that is so strong

Sustaining that connection
Until we must part
But live on forever
With you inside of my heart

There are now words
No apology that could explain
Or even an excuse for
My selfish, impatient ways

At least now when you look
And see that feeling in my stare
It's not all of what you fear
But the eternal thought of you and me there.
