We Stood By A Lake

We Stood by a Lake

We stood by a lake the other lovely day
The aged sun was ashen like and gray
The smile on your face was a pleasant thing
That surrounded me like an iron ring
I lost my long cherished desire to die
Finding you in the lonely place beneath the open sky
For such a great gift I never prayed to God
It was like a shower upon a dry sod
Again an ambiguous smile swept there by
Like an ominous awl’s shrill cry
As revolving sun passed its days course
You walked slowly leaving me in remorse
That day I got a lesson that love deceives
Just like giant trees decaying leaves.
