War

War Shakil Ahmed

War comes and goes
Leaving scars behind
Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Are two scars, that we remind.

Love, pity and kindness
Are folded inside
Envy and horror-the two things
That often coincide

Men halt speaking
In a sudden strangeness
Cannon and shell speak
In a primitive bitterness.

War comes to an end
Where both are defeated
Skeletons and crippled survive
The truth must be admitted.

Millions become shelter less
To suffer throughout the years
Mother can't give birth to her child
In a fresh world, whom she bears.

Youth lose their lives
Children become orphan
Tears are shedding down,
A scene- that we see often.

Rotten flesh of youth
Abounds here and there
Vultures are seen
Roaming everywhere

The whole economy collapses
The nation becomes bankrupt
Everything is destroyed
Smooth way of life corrupts.

Old man groans
For want of food
And says in a whisper that
War can not bring any good

The last line definitely sums it up...War can not bring any good...yet supposed intelligent me solve issues by bringing forth war, it never helps as it takes innocent lives and ruins bodies, torn and disfigured but no one learns from that as it is done over and over again. Great change is needed. Your poem speaks an abundance of truth and I love when poet stacks the deck with truth...Thank you.....
