We Think Of The Past Poem by Francis Duggan

We Think Of The Past

We think of the past and we live for today
And the clock on our lives it is ticking away
And of making a success of life we despair
But far worse off than us in the big World out there.

The hill towards success it is a crowded place
And millions of people dropp out of the race
Big brother's approval they failed for to win
And for one to succeed many have to cave in.

But we keep battling on despite our lack of success
For we are survivors and we soak up the stress
That living a poor existence with it does bring
To the hope of a better tomorrow we cling.

We think of the past and we live for the now
But in the gap of despair we do survive somehow
And we realize all hope from us has not gone
And that gives us the strength for to keep keeping on.
