We Wait For Beauty Poem by Shalom Freedman

We Wait For Beauty

We wait for Beauty
And Long for Wonder
And Hope for Inspiration
And Dream for new light and distance
We need so much the song the poem the music
That takes us beyond what we are
Into some other higher realm
That suggests there is an ultimate unending meaning
For us for our life for all we love

We wait for beauty
And long to live in something so great
It answers our deepest soul need
To be and to be
Loved and understand and recognized
As we are
Infinitely quiet and holy
If not as God
Then at least
As God's hidden minor loving imitation.
