We Were Built For Singing Praises Poem by Gary James Smith

We Were Built For Singing Praises

We Were Built For Singing Praises

We were built for singing praises
According to God's Word
Where it says most emphatically
Let everything that has breath...let him praise the Lord
Now praise doesn't come naturally
There's something that must transpire
In the inner workings of our heart
To send our praises higher

There's a surrendering to the will of God
Before rejoicing can begin
For we'll never understand the depths of praising Him
Until we know His forgiveness for our sins
And when joy's floodgates know full release
Then there's joy! ... there's joy like a river!
For when we come to Jesus Christ in true brokeness
We'll find in Him... the true Life-giver!

To the Cross! To the Cross! ...swiftly now...
You know that you need to come
May you be moved by the Spirit of God
God the Father and God the Son
To embrace the truth of the Word
That knowing the Son shall make you free
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ today my friend
And live on rejoicingly! ! !

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
