Weather Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Weather

Weather

She called me
We conversed
(Brother and sister)
“Lucky you with the rain and snow, ”
She said, I…almost laughed.
“People here want like that…”
She, a woman, had more words, stopped me and went on:
“We have had one snow. It was fun. We went out; I wrestled…”
And went on and went on.

Here in Toronto, I feel cold and observe people move.
They are all wrapped like box.
Colder air has changed us both outside and inside.
Heads lowered, frozen face with the chill, no one looks.
Who’s falling, who’s dying? No one cares.

And I read “Is this one our coldest? ”
“It is one; coast to coast and to coast.”
“Cold weather keeps grasp...”
“It is called Polar vortex…”
“Wind chill says minus thirty three.”
“Freezing Arctic air has hit us; Ontario”
“Overall far colder-than-normal”
“The runways froze too.”
“De-icing also failed.”
“Can you feel working in below zero by forty? ”

I read on:
“U.S. has severe drought; worst in the west.”
“No sign of any rain…”
“Water is running out; reservoirs will dry in no time.”
“Every day this drought goes further; and goes on.”
“It’s the worst in many years; the last recalled in seventy six-seventy seven.”

And I think “Who is who; what is what? ”
I think of the nature…creation…creator…
