Weeping Willow Poem by Angela Johnson

Weeping Willow

Rating: 4.0

Weeping willow standing tall
Keeping shade for the birds and all
Weeping willow, do you wonder why I sit by this tree?
The reason is for no one can see
I hide so no one sees the tears
From the loneliness and anger I fear
I tried to find a better place
Nevertheless, I do not want people to see my face
Your branches sing a gracefully song
I could lay here and listen all night long
Please don’t makes me go
I do not want to be alone
Weeping willow here my plea
Let Gods angels descend from your tree
To take my hand and guide me through
This confusing, misunderstood place inside me

Your poem reminds me of Wordsworth's definition of poetry asemotions recollected in tranquillity There are sometimes we become so tensed over some issues, and we don't even know who to talk to, even if we know who to talk to, we can't be sure they will believe us or assist us. We end up consoling ourselves by some utopic thoughts or taking solace in an inanimate object close to us. We speak to it but in reality, we are only talking to ourselves...your poem expresses this grief. your poem suggests how difficult the situation is, to the extent that you don't want people to see your face, seems to me some kind of embarrassment you found yourself in..but I am glad you still have put your hope in God. You have caught my attention.....very nice poem! Keep writing!
