Wen The Silence Of My Empty Heart Poem by Mohammad Younus

Wen The Silence Of My Empty Heart

When the silence of my empty heart,
Proved resounding with Hu,
Instead of leaning out,
I turned all my attention inside,
To hear the ringing sound Hu hu hu,
Coming from Him who is,
Hiding in His own veils of beauty;
But it wasn't always like that;
Many a time it proved deafening,
And instead of fusion,
I was in utter confusion,
When I leaned forward,
To enjoy the temptations of the vile nafs;
But the inner voice reassured me:
'The key to spiritual peace,
May yet be found again,
Just by resisting and overcoming,
The temptations of the vile nafs,
So turn around and lean
Into the heart again,
And immerse into the sea
Of divine silence,
And hear there the sound Hu,
Without any distraction.'
