What Can I Compare Thee With? Poem by Edwina Reizer

What Can I Compare Thee With?

What can I compare thee with?
She said to him, her love?
All the things divine to see
that are sent from heaven above.

The mist from which the air is kissed
That forms before your eyes.
The grass through which your feet must pass
beneath the sunny skies.
The skies that darken in the night
that cradle you in sleep.
The seas that flow in the springtime breeze
and the blue of the ocean deep.
The trill of birds on high the hill
that sing their song for you.
The thrill of my heart that beats at will
from every breath I drew.

What can I compare thee with?
She said to him, her love.
All the things divine to see
that are sent from heaven above.
