What Does The Queen Mean To You? Poem by Denis Martindale

The Queen of Queens has served her time upon this world God gave,
With such devotion that's sublime, with dignity so brave,
To persevere until the end, almost a hundred years,
Someone on whom we could depend, and now we shed our tears.

While humour helped her on her path, across these decades gone,
Men know the final epitaph are words we build upon.
Her legacy stands unsurpassed, integrity remains,
She was the best, from first to last, regardless of her pains.

Her frailties still come to mind, and yet she played her part,
She served us all, yes, all Mankind, with such a noble heart.
We mourn the passing of her now, dumbfounded yet with awe,
Because, in truth, we know, somehow, God couldn't ask for more...
