What Had Our Country Become Poem by Randy McClave

What Had Our Country Become

Hitler and his followers burned books
Now many Americans are a lot like him,
They don't want us to read what we want
We here in the U.S are now instead banning them.
We are now being told what we can read
And what books that we cannot,
The government is wanting to control us
They'll teach us whatever they want to be taught.

Women in the Middle East have no rights
They are told what to do and say and how to dress there,
They speak when a man tells them to
And for the man they must always obey and care.
Women here in America are losing their rights
Even with their own body they have no honest control,
They must obey or ask permission
The government now wants to control their mind and soul.

A former president here in America said
Immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country,
They're coming here from Mexico and from Africa and Asia
Soon America won't be livable or pure or free.
An ex-American president had quoted what Hitler had once said
About his belief and thoughts and treatment of the Jew,
Hitler imprisoned them, and then had them murdered
The same thing to immigrants our country now wants to do.

Here in America we will ban books, but not ever guns
We'd rather see Americans shoot and kill than read,
And we'd rather see females eyes and brains closed
And their souls and beliefs and thoughts not freed.
We would rather have a dictator instead of a president
We don't care how stupid or how dumb,
And we don't care that we hate immigrants and freedom for all
Tell me, what has our country become.
