What Have I Poem by SJ. Sharkey

What Have I

What have I of you and yours
Aside from the overshadowing
From what you say and what you do
So that all my thoughts lead back to you

Now there is real soul within my heart
And once before I made of it a start
But strength may leave me cold and black
As lightning abandons thunder in the night

Though love may flood our feelings with ease
There is little to be trusted by it
Of all the senses that spread disease
This one, though favoured, should be distrusted

My eyes led me to you and yours
And from me drew a thousand mores
But left me suddenly hollow and blind
As now your sight they can’t abide.
