What If? Poem by Clinton Ekeh

What If?

Should it happen you slept
Only to awake, up there
Face to face with judgement
Just you alone, no friends.
Would you shriek?
Would you squeak?
Or rather scream
From fear of hell.

Imagine you had thought
Hell was an ecclesiastical hunch
A fable, void of facts
A sentiment held by dogmatic minds.
And there before your gaze
Stood glaring a fatal fate,
"Had I known", you might say
But then it would be too late!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
this poem is not to scare the reader about hell, as it were but rather to make the reader understand that this world is ephemeral and would someday meet its end. thus in essense this like a reminder to the reader to prepare himself for eternity and judgement of which i strongly belive in.
