What If Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

What If

There are so many "what ifs" right now
Circling in our minds
Fear is a bird of prey
Watching and noticing
Any slight movement of thoughts
Any deviation from normality
Any unsolicited sorrow
A red flag in the eyes of fear
To be used to outflank and overpower
Fear is a hardened mercenary
That pounces on unsuspecting minds
With its ferocious claws
Fear will rip you apart
And feed on your mind
With its hardened beak
It will merciless devour your spirit
And bring you to the brink of death
Fear is a brutal enemy
With its dagger
It will stab you in the heart
Decapitate your head
And feed on you
Beware of the "what if syndrome"
Fear is only here to cloud your reality
And may be weaken your defence systems
Fear is an enemy
