What Is Democracy?

Rating: 5.0

Democracy is much more than election
Electing people representatives to
Assemblies and lok sabha.

It is not ruled through independent courts.
It is neither attending public meetings
Neither watching breaking news on tv.
Democracy means freedom from hunger.
Humiliation, unemployment and right to
Demonstration.

It means respect to women, children old people
Taking care of, availability of jobs
In a decent democracy peoples are not forced
To travel in crowded buses and trains like animals
And must be provided health and education

It is not democracy when judiciary becomes weak
Massive imbalances in wealth, chronic unemployment.
Also makes mockery of ethical principle that we all are
Entitled to a decent living standard as equal citizens

Finally in the absence of right social systems democracy
Turns into mere façade.Led by Crony media.Democracy
Becomes fake. Society has to suffer the consequences
Such democracy becomes a top down rule called despotism triumphs.
Democracy means rejection of dogma that cannot
Be changed.

In the absence of above democracy suffers and dies

A natural death; especially when constitution guarantees

Such provisions

Beware! We are not marching to that type of democracy in India! !

We should know what democracy really means to us. It comes from within. If this inner element is missing we only execute monarchy in a different name.
