What Is Greater? Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

What Is Greater?

What is greater
Than your weight in gold?
Why it's the memories you have
Of the love you hold.

What could be better
Than to be just ten years old
Where the water tastes good
In the well your buckets hold?

Nothing is more precious
Than old photos black and white.
Where your mind fills in the colors
Of your first love on that night.

Value of all treasure is
A price within your heart.
Not a tag you get from Walmart
Nor a thing with which you'd part.

Remember your first baby,
Or the second or the third?
Treasure is never as golden
As your memories in this world.

Where your treasure is
There will your heart be also.
Possessions are never things
To worship or you'll have sorrow.
