What Is It You See In Thee? Poem by Shalia Robinson

What Is It You See In Thee?

What is it you see in thee?
Would it be something you view in you or is it lost in a sea.
Or is it something that wheels you in like a fish on a hook
For what it is in me will not be shook.
For it was implanted into my soul being cook.
Pushing through the coal in the ground
To come out and sound
That one might hear and come with a tear of being proud.
For what is in me is to help you to survive
The waves and tides of this world that wont abide.
That will come to try and wash away your very being.
So dont curl for time is ticking.
Stand tall don't hurl is a way of thinking.
For we will hurl but we wont continue to hurl.
To fall from what is heard
But we perservere from all dark forces in the herd.
What you see in thee?
Well it was influenced by the process of becoming this fly bee.
