They all came to visit sweet Mary
Who lived in the village of Pride.
They all came to court pretty Mary
Hoping she would be someone's bride.
Mary gave each a chance to date her.
Mary gave each suitor a goodbye kiss.
But she found no one so charming
To leave her single life, she would miss.
So, then, came the day, I am sad to say,
Hair turned gray, without a man's love,
She died alone, with open bible in hand,
Dedicating herself to the Lord above.
