What Should Have Been Poem by Shaun Cronick

What Should Have Been

Rating: 5.0

When at last I found her,
In that vague, indifferent sad land.
I wept her lover's despair,
Sleeping now beneath dunes of sand.

For she was gracious and loving,
Her hypnotic beauty to behold.
We loved each other with passion,
One to live with and grow old.

But they are distant memories,
Mere glimpses of what should have been.
My duty now to retrieve my lover,
And gently return her to pasture's green.
