What The Stoic Told Me Poem by Raj Dronamraju

What The Stoic Told Me

Speak up if you must to correct a wrong
If it's just to complain and to whine, keep quiet

Move inert matter, use knowledge as a lever
Wisdom's weight dropped on one side of a board as lever
Reason moves the rock with its indifference to both pain and pleasure

Take the universe in as one moveable act and actor of completion
Let this realization keep your head up
Don't be dragged down to the petty disgrace of human bickering

The ultimate goal of all human effort should be freedom
Freedom from desire - for sex, for money, for unhealthy sustenance
A real man does not show his anxious face to the world
