When the ground beneath your feet
no longer offers certainty,
when the light tilts
and shadows grow larger.
When silence sounds too loud
and breathing becomes heavy,
when the familiar shifts
until nothing fits as it once did,
know this-
balance is not still water,
but waves that come and go,
and sometimes you must move with them
to keep from breaking.
