When I Am Alone Poem by Aprajita Rana

At times when I’m alone
I look up at the sky
I think about the stars above
And envy the birds flying so high.

I wonder how time runs by so fast
Making us a history doll
And when I look back at the past
There is always a mystery to solve.

Sometimes I feel the power beyond my control
Is pulling me by strings
Then as if chained in this world
I wish to have wings.

I promise myself to stand upright
To take all the blows in my stride
The day I won’t escape
And show the power of my mind.

I commit to myself
Not to bend in the storm
To always move forward
And take the bull by its horns.
