When I Left You Poem by William K Duncan

When I Left You

I remember when I left you
Left you standing in the rain
Not a second thought
Not a concern for your pain

I remember when I left you
Left you standing in the dark
Not a second thought
No I never looked back

The only one who truly loved me
Proved yourself time... and time again
But I never looked back
Even tried to forget your name
Wished I'd never see your face again

I remember where I left you
Left you stranded and alone
Not a second thought
Like you were litter thrown

I remember when I left you
Not as much as a goodbye
Your only company, a broken heart
And like a stranger I walked on by

No, I never looked back...
And in a second I was gone
Not a second thought
Only looked strait on

No, I never thought twice
Threw you out of my mind
Turned my back and left you...
Left you behind

I don't regret that I left you
Only that I hadn't been so cruel
That when I was young, I hadn't been such a fool

That I hadn't left you...
Left you crying...

Crying waiting for me
... to turn back.
